Hypoglycemia and the brain

Three recent papers have described the effects of hypoglycemia on cognitive function. One study in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes aimed to establish whether a link existed between hypoglycemic episodes requiring hospitalization and the risk of dementia. Another explored the effects of medium-chain fatty acids on cognitive function during hypoglycemia in people with type 1 diabetes. The third study investigated the effects of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia on cognitive function in children with type 1 diabetes.
