In this issue of Diabetic Hypoglycemia, we interviewed Professor John (Jack) Gerich, Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine. He is also the Program Director of the institution’s Clinical Research Center and Head of its Diabetes Research Laboratory.
Professor Gerich graduated from Cornell University magna cum laude with honors in classics, and received his MD and residency training in internal medicine at Georgetown University. He trained in endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco under Dr Peter Forsham.
Professor Gerich has more than 500 publications in the fields of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism, and serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals. He is the Regional Editor of Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice for North, South, and Central America.
Over the last three decades, he has been awarded a number of honors including most recently the Novartis Prize in Diabetes for Long-Standing Achievement, in 2007.
