Abstract
In a 56 year old female with late-onset type 1 diabetes, frequent nocturnal hypoglycemia and fasting hyperglycemia was managed with continuous glucose monitoring and an insulin pump. Despite some resistance from the patient, persistently elevated HbA1c (8% or higher) obliged the patient to accept continuous glucose monitoring, which resulted in stable HbA1c of 7%. Issues surrounding blood glucose variability, patient education on self-management and the use of insulin pumps are discussed.
