Fear of hypoglycemia: does it have any clinical utility?

In her comprehensive review of the extensive literature on fear of hypoglycemia (FOH), Dr Linda Gonder-Frederick identifies several risk factors for FOH in both children and adults. The most salient predictors include impaired hypoglycemia awareness, more episodes of severe hypoglycemia (SH), and higher levels of trait anxiety – that is, the tendency to worry more about most things than the average person.
