The feature article reviews the use of electroencephalography (EEG) as a tool to evaluate the effects of severe and recurrent hypoglycemia upon the brain. Poor diabetes control associated with hyperglycemia-related complications and hypoglycemia (acute and chronic) may affect the brain and the EEG. Perhaps the most important target of damage from severe hypoglycemia is the brain.
