Frequency of Severe Hypoglycemia and complications in elderly people with type 1 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes predominates among the elderly. However, the number of elderly people with type 1 diabetes is rising, and data are lacking on this population. Schütt et al recently compared the incidence of SH and complications in elderly people with type 1 diabetes and younger patients. This study analyzed data from a large multi-center database of people with type 1 diabetes treated by 350 qualified diabetes treatment centers. The dataset comprising 64,609 patients was evaluated by age group.
