Highlights from the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and the 20th World Diabetes Conference of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) are summarized in this edition of Diabetic Hypoglycemia.

One abstract presents the association between hypoglycemia and myocardial infarction (MI) detected in a large sample of patients in the US Veterans Health Administration (VA). The others present the latest data on the causes of severe hypoglycemia among people with diabetes visiting the emergency room, demographic and disease-specific factors related to fear of hypoglycemia, and the link between impaired awareness of hypoglycemia and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis dysregulation.
